My first marathon was 21 AUG 2005 UTC-1600 ago in Anchorage, Alaska!
LAST UPDATE: MARCH 19, 2006
Check out my article published on MarathonGuide.com!

The first training step was on April 4th. Then each week, the miles accumulated. Four and a half months and over 500 miles later, I was ready. The flight to Anchorage, Alaska was long. The carbs were loaded the day before the run. The morning forecast called for rain and 55°. Now, the journey to finish my first marathon is OVER!

I was hoping to finish in the 4-hour range, but I had no idea what to expect in this marathon, especially during those last 6.2 miles. It was an amazing journey full of pain, emotion and determination as every one of our Joints in Motion team members finished their run. Read about the entire marathon day here.

Again, thank you so much to all my sponsors that helped me raise $4,000 for the Arthritis Foundation. I could not have done this without each and every one of you. Whether you supported me financially or through your prayers, I thank you. You were my support team and I thought of every one of you during the run, especially when those final few miles tested my mental endurance.

Check out my training blog and photos that I've kept up throughout the 20 weeks and 503 miles of training. I'm glad I made this website an important part of the experience. The site helped me focus during those rough times when my body ached and I questioned myself.

Rich, Smash, Jan, Angie, Suzanne, Stephanie, Shelly, Jenni, and Jessica...you all have been an amazing group of runners and a great support team during each training week and on marathon day in Alaska. Lindsey, thank you for traveling with me and supporting me from the first day I told you I was taking on this challenge.  We've sacrificed some date nights and fattening foods for this, but it has truly paid off. Ellen, I'm proud to have ran in your honor, and the pain I endured in this race is nothing compared to your daily struggle. I hope the money raised will help put and end to arthritis.
