The Run
So, I woke up with slightly sore legs this morning, so I was thinking I would have a rough start, but by the first quarter-mile, I would be fine. It was much warmer today. I didn't have my watch on me today, but I ran the same distance as yesterday, so I'm sure I made the full 30 minutes. I even sprinted for about a 1/10 mile towards the end. I had bonus energy surprisingly! My side didn't hurt at all like it did yesterday, and when I was turning the final corner, I looked up at my finish line, and thought, "that's it?". I was happy with that reaction. Later in the evening my legs were really sore, really feeling it as I got up from my chair all evening.
Support from the Office
While I was working elections at FOX 2, Producer Jim Schwantner noticed my wristband and asked what it was for. I told him it was for the Arthritis Foundation. Jim is an avid cyclist, and rounds Francis Park often. I told him I was planning on running a marathon for the foundation, and he said, "the whole marathon?" I said "yep" and he seemed supportive right away. We started chatting about marathons. He's also participated in lengthy rides for charities, such as the MS150 and he keeps in great shape, too. Producer Chris Steinmeyer was also in the conversation and asked where I was going to run. He asked if it was the same marathon that we're airing PSAs on our station. I guess Smash and the Arthritis Foundation put together a spot that's been airing. So, there's two more people that know about my project.
| THOUGHTS: |
Lost a pound, now at 229 pounds. I was eager to run more, but held back to avoid injury and to "stick to the schedule". |
