Again, Just Waking Up Early is Tough
It was hard to wake up this morning, and because I was on my own for the long 5-mile run, I slept in.  So, about 10:00, I finally got over to the park It was a gorgeous day, and there were more and more people walking the park as the laps went by.

The Run
I was concerned that I wouldn't hit the 5-mile mark, but after making that last of 4 laps around the park, I knew I could relax. I didn't feel any pain except midway through Mile 4 and again on Mile 5, as my side hurt, like it did on Monday. But I just slowed down a bit, and I didn't notice it. After I finished, I took long walking strides, and the shoes never felt more cushiony. I walked another mile just to warm down and did some stretches.

THOUGHTS: I think my biggest weakeness will be getting enough sleep on Friday nights to maximize the Saturday morning runs with the group. I'm glad I had this practice run, so I now know how difficult it will be if I don't get enough rest. It just takes discipline.
