The Run
After it's all said and done, the actual running is never the hardest part in the mornings...it's the getting up part that sucks! To get a full 8 hours of rest, I would have to crash at 10:30pm at night. It's tough right now getting to bed before midnight, and even when I do, I toss and turn until it's past midnight. And boy do I feel it during the run! Today, I felt tired, and I thought I was going to run much slower than yesterday (at least it felt like it). But I was only slower by 7 seconds. NOT TO SHABBY!

Having Options
See? I gotta change my attitude! I actually enjoy the morning run...it's the first thing I do...it's out of the way all day long...and I feel the muscles recovering during work. It's nice to actually come home and rest after work. But if it's raining in the mornings, at least the evenings are a good backup. For instance, today, the morning was beautiful, and the evening was a total downpour...so I'm glad I ran in the morning.  Plus, I haven't bought any rain gear for runners yet.

Greg, My Hero
Later in the morning, I talked briefly with Greg Schrick (who placed 10th overall in the St. Louis Marathon), and he asked me if I was gonna run the whole marathon. I said, "I plan to", and he just said, "It'll hurt!" Then he laughed...I hope it's a good hurt.

THOUGHTS: Go to bed early! Night-owling It's my biggest weakness!
