April 18, 2005, 7:00am: Running on 4 Hours Sleep

GOAL:  3 miles
LOCATION:  Francis Park, St. Louis, Missouri
CONDITIONS: 57° and sunny
RESULTS: 3 miles
TIME: 29:56
PACE: 9:59/mile

The Run
I stayed up waaaay to late last night, but managed to complete the run.  Last Saturday's long run really wore me out on Saturday, and I napped for a long time in the evening, which screwed up my sleeping pattern for the entire weekend. The weather was perfect for the morning run, and my legs felt like running. I feel stronger today than last Monday. I was more winded than usual, but I was running faster than I have, so I think a combo of fast running and lack of sleep put me out of breath. I finished in under 30 minutes, which put my pace just under 10:00/mile. I don't think it was healthy, though.  Let's see if I can do that pace on a full 8 hours later this week.

Designing the Newsletter
I worked pretty heavily on the newsletter and mailer to send out for the fundraising campaign. I sure hope I can raise the $4,000. I just hope my friends and family enjoy the website and contribute just a little bit. I'm excited about it, and knowing the support is there will encourage me even more. I plan on sending the e-mails and letters later this week, most likely Wednesday night.

THOUGHTS: Need more sleep!  I can't let the nice pace get to my head. I think I would've done better with 8 hours, not 4.
