Brrrrr!
I was awakened by the holwing wind against my window, so I knew it would be a cold day. I really don't have the right gear to wear in rainy and cold weather, but I did have a pullover that worked. It looked like it could whisk off the water, as long as it wasn't a downpour.
The Run
Our coach Rich ran with me today during the entire 6 miles, and it went by FAST! I guess the mix of constant conversation and the cold weather made it a breeze. I was glad I had the chance to chat with him. I wanted to talk with him about general marathon questions last week, but he stayed back with some of the walkers. The trail was pretty straight and uneventful. I did like it, though, and I plan on going there for the weekly runs once we get into the 4-8 mile daily runs. Rich and I talked about the benefits of carbs and potassium for runners, we talked about biking and the MS150, and he gave me tips on biking trails and shops to visit for biking gear. He suggested taking walk breaks during the marathon, so we're not so weak at the end. He said that runners usually improve their time, because they give the body little breaks to recover and to get out of the running pattern. He is really encouraging me to get off the concrete pathways. I guess I'll try Francis Park on the asphalt, which is just a couple feet from the concrete walk, but it's part of the street. I do feel a difference between the two surfaces. After the first two miles, I didn't notice the cold weather at all, and it was quite comfortable. Waiting for the stoplights to change got me off track a little bit, but overall, I liked the idea of taking walk breaks. I think I'm really building some good endurance. I ran a better pace than last week.
My Eating Habits
During the past week, my eating habits were off, eating about 250 calories more a day than last week. But on the flipside, I burned about 100 calories more this week than last. It was those damn Cheetos that did it. The whole freakin' bag! I KNEW IT! If I didn't eat that entire bag, I would have been right on target. AARGH!
| THOUGHTS: |
I really feel like I'm building endurance. I had a better pace than last week, and despite cold and drizzly weather, it felt good during the run. |
