The Run
I felt like I was floating on top of the path today. I don't know if it was just the cold weather and drizzle or if I'm just building endurance, but I didn't even notice the pains of running until the last mile. Then it all hit me at once with the side pains, so I slowed down a bit. After the run, I could feel my legs below my knees really swelling up...all but the shin split part. So, I walked it off for a mile or so. It was nice. I never really downpoured which would have been exciting. I was able to run with my headphones the entire time.

Sending the Mailers
Over the weekend, I prepared about 100 mailers and sent them out today.  Here's what the mailer looks like. I stuffed each envelope with the mailer, a post-it note with a personal message from me, and a return envelope.  The foundation does not recommend adding a stamp to the return envelope, because it doesn't really bring in more dollars, and it costs me more dollars.  Most people who are generous sponsors don't mind "donating" the stamp as well. But just to send those mailers cost $37.00, not including envelopes and ink for the printer.  But that's ok. That is part of my contribution to the foundation in it's own way. They should be hitting mailboxes by Wednesday, and I may see my first one back as early as Friday...you never know! I'm still thinking of the best way to approach the workplace...should I mail it to their homes, and make the donation process confidential? Leave it in their mailboxes, and face the fact that I might see some of my mailers in a trash can? Post it all over the building, then people can come up to my cubicle and donate? I don't know what the most effective way is right now...If you're reading this and have any thoughts, please e-mail me...

Putting up Flyers in the Apartment Building
Last night, I taped two flyers next to the mailboxes at the apartment complex I live at. Here's what the flyers looked like. I customized it for the neighbors, and I left pull off tags with my address on them. To my surprise this morning, three of the 10 tags were taken! I hope someone can donate from the building.

Getting Prepared for Running in May
Since I work for at FOX 2, and since it's ratings period in May, I'm gonna be busy producing radio commercials to promote prime time shows and news.  So, I have to put those together early in the morning or late in the evening. So, today I worked out my schedule so that I MUST run Monday afternoons, Tuesday afternoons and Thursday morning.  No ifs, ands, or buts. Before I had the option of morning or evenign, but now my schedule has tightened, so the month of May will be on a tight system. The Saturday morning runs will remain unchanged.

THOUGHTS: I'm enjoying the drizzly weather more than sunny weather!
