Still Limping Around
OK. So, it's been five days since the long 21-miler, and I'm still walking funny.  It's to the point where people ask me why I'm limping. I just tell them I'm still sore. My calf muscles are incredible sore.  It still hurts to go down steps. It hurts worse now than it did the previous 5 days. I don't get it. I also think the bounce I was getting from the new shoes used some leg muscles I hadn't used in a while. The pounding on pavement is much more cushiony, but I'm really hurting when I run.

The Run
Despite the pain, I went ahead and ran. I took it easy today, running much slower than normal. I was doing pretty good until Mile 4.  I had to stop and walk it off for about 3 minutes. Then, my legs felt numbed, and I started to run again, not noticing as much pain.  That last mile was pretty tough. I pushed myself to run all the way through that last mile, and I limped back to my car. The heat wasn't really getting to me, but it was so humid.  I was constantly wiping my face off with sweat, and my eyes were burning from the sweat dripping into my eyes. The air was so thick, I didn't even need my sunglasses!

THOUGHTS: I hope my calf muscles recover between now and Saturday's 12-miler. I'm not worried, but concerned.
WHAT I'LL
REMEMBER MOST:
The pain in my calf muscles hurting more than ever!
