It's Just a Walk in the Park
I thought it would be a good idea to take a walk instead of running today, and Lindsey joined me again. It's always a great time when we walk together, because it forces us to slow down and have some personal time away from the busy world. We walked around the entire park. By the end of the 5.65 miles, our legs were really feeling sore, and our hands were swollen.

Happy Birthday to Me!
Well, today was my birthday. The family got together yesterday for pizza, and we had a great time! The only reason why I mention the birthday party in this blog is because of the gifts. Julie and Chris Duchinsky bought me a cap that says, "Life is Good" with a little guy running on it. My brother Mark and his family gave me some money that I'll use to buy my second pair of running shoes for the marathon.  And, my mom bought me a Timex GPS Speed + Distance Watch and a data recorder.  This gift comes in 4 parts: Watch, GPS receiver, heart monitor that straps across the chest, and a triangular data recorder. I haven't figured out how to use it. I'm hoping I can hook it all up for this Saturday's run.  Between this unit and my MP3 player and water belt, I'll have plenty to carry around during the run.  The nice thing about the 4 parts is that you can tuck them away in pockets and under shirts, so I won't look like a freak out there with wires hanging all over.

THOUGHTS: I'm glad I walked again this week. I don't want to get into the habit of walking every Thursday, though.  Next week I'll get back to running on Thursdays.
WHAT I'LL
REMEMBER MOST:
The swollen hands at the end of the walk.
