Must Get Through These Hot Mornings:
I really can't mess around with the training schedule this week. I have that 21-miler on Saturday, and I'm feeling nervous about it already, and it's Monday! I got up early this morning, and ran on the dirt path at Francis Park.  I didn't want to run on the asphalt, only because of all the traffic in the mornings. And the concrete is a big no no. There is a one-foot wide dirt path along the inside of the concrete walk at the park. It's not supposed to be a real path, but so many joggers use it instead of concrete, grass just can't grow there. It's a horrible dirt path, too. Parts of it are washed out, and you have to watch the trail every step or you'll trip on a tree root. That almost happened to me this morning.  Luckily I caught myself. I have yet to nose dive into the ground during training, and I hope it never happens! I had a great pace during the first 2.5 miles, running about 10:00/mile, but when I got a drink from my Explorer, I slowed down quite a bit, and there were times when I walked for 3 or 4 minutes. I didn't want to be late for work, so I ended up running the final mile pretty good. Now I'm debating on whether I should run Tuesday morning or wait until Wednesday morning. Temps on Wednesday are expected to be in the low 80°s for a HIGH. I really want to stick to the schedule, though.  I'm pretty sure I'll run Tuesday morning and beat the heat one more time.

THOUGHTS: I'm giving myself a big pat on the back for getting up early this morning. I could not see myself running in 103° temps after work today.
WHAT I'LL
REMEMBER MOST:
Almost tripping on the dirt trail at Francis Park.
