Feeling the Heat
The heat is back in action this week.  Those crazy thunderstorm possibilities from the past couple weeks look like they're over for now. It was hot and the air wasn't moving at all, which made the run pretty tough.

The Run
I started off a little wobbly. It felt like I couldn't get a good balance, and I was running all over the track.  I don't know why, it just happened to be that kind of day. I decided to train on the toughest part of the park, where there are hills. Today's 4-miler was a mile uphill, a mile downhill, then repeated. When I normally run the park, I don't run in the direction where there's a big downhill, so my legs took it pretty hard. I wasn't expecting to hold myself back from running down them the first time. My legs were really feeling sore from all the pounding. But when I turned around for Miles 3 and 4, they seemed to be better, and when I ran downhill on Mile 4, I just gave in to the hill and ran really fast. I took a chance of overtraining my legs, but I didn't care. It felt pretty good and natural. Of course, I practiced the interval training again, where I run faster than normal for 5 minutes, then take a brisk walk for a minute.  I was able to speed up my pace again to just under 10:00/mile. This 5-1 method is really doing wonders for me. The weekday runs are tougher than the Saturday long runs now, because I push myself constantly during the week and relax on the long run.

THOUGHTS: I need to practice more on those hills, so that will be my routine for the 4-milers on Mondays.
