A Late Start
I slept in Monday morning, but was still able to get up fast and get to Forest Park. I didn't eat anything, and drank a couple ounces of water before I started running. I didn't even bring headphones. I didn't realize I left them at home until the second mile. I was out of it, I suppose.
The Run
The run was still hot and humid, even if it was in the low 80s. I tried out my new sunglasses, and they worked great! They didn't make me squint, they didn't fall off my head, and they fit my face perfectly. I'm very happy to have found a great pair of running glasses. My muscles were still sore from the 14m-miler last Saturday. I didn't know if I'd be running in pain or not. After the first 30 seconds, I felt confident that I'd run fine. I got back into my interval training (5 minutes faster, 1 minute brisk walk), and I almost hit the 10:00/mile mark. I missed it by only seconds. I think the heat got to me on the final lap and I slowed down a little bit.
Closing in on Fundraising
I'm have only $300 left to raise for this marathon! WOW! I put up a little flyer next to my cubicle on Friday, and today was the first time someone mentioned something to me. Roche Madden and Jane Beckmann both read it and we chatted for a while about it. I hope I can wrap up the fundraising in the next couple weeks. I received an e-mail from the Arthritis Foundation that said July 21st was the deadline for all funds to be turned in.
| THOUGHTS: |
I've got to get to bed earlier, that way I'm totally refreshed for the morning run. This week will be a good test of my willpower. |
