Another Late Start
I slept in Tuesday morning, but was still able to get up fast and get to Forest Park. I wanted to start running at 7:00am, but was 15 minutes late thanks to one snooze and some slow movin'. The reason why I got up early instead of running after work was mostly because I was taking my sister to the John Mellencamp/John Fogerty concert tonight, and there was no way I could run after work. Plus, during these summer months, I'm trying to find ways to beat the heat.  If this Saturday's temps are in the 90s, then I may try to make the run at 6:00am! That would surely help beat the heat.

The Run
I felt stiff muscles from the moment I started to run. It was like my body was in slow motion. It took a lot of effort just to run normal.  It also felt as though my entire body was numb.  I never felt this way before, and it kept with me until the end of Mile 3. After my climb up the tough hills in Forest Park, I finally felt stretched out enough to run normally. It took 3 miles to loosen up! Was it because I've been lazy when it comes to stretching after the long runs? Was it from lack of sleep? Was it fear of taking too long to finish 7 miles, thus being late for work? My guess is because I didn't adequately stretch last Saturday.

I filled up and used all 4 of my water/Gatorade mix bottles this morning. One bottle was filled with only water, and I used it to douse my head and the back of my neck during the walk back to my SUV.

Familiar Team Faces
Right when I finished my 7 miles, I saw Joints in Motion team members Stephanie and Jenni running the opposite direction.  They are nurses that work 7:00pm to 7:00am, so I guess they were just starting their run.  It was nice to see some familiar faces.  We just waved and encouraged each other on.

Some Bleeding
Just as I passed the two girls, I looked down and noticed my running shirt had two big red spots from my nipples bleeding.  They burned when I doused them with water, but I wanted to dilute the stain so it wouldn't stand out on my orange shirt. I don't know the best remedy to prevent them from bleeding. I guess bandaids will do.  I tried rubbing the body glide on them, but they bled anyway.

THOUGHTS: I'll say this over and over...GET MORE SLEEP! I'm writing this blog and it's 2:00am! I need to prioritize before I injure myself from not allowing my body enough rest to recover.
