May 9, 2005, 6:30pm: I want to run more!

GOAL:  3 miles
LOCATION:  Forest Park, St. Louis, Missouri
CONDITIONS: 76° and sunny, slightly windy
RESULTS: 4 miles
TIME: 29:49
PACE: 9:56/mile
TOTAL TRAINING MILES TO DATE (walking & running): 111 miles

Concentrating on a Faster Pace
My legs felt great today.  I have no repercussions from the 8-mile run on Saturday.  I decided to pick up the pace today, since it was only three miles. I finally found the official mile markers at Forest Park.  They are tombstones along the path. But actually, I only saw one. So, the only mile markers I see are for Mile 2 and Mile 5. So, that should be good enough for tracking my pace.

The Run
It was warmer than I was used to. I brought my water belt and dressed in my running shirt today. I felt pretty comfy the whole time.  I noticed my shirt got really wet through the run, but my skin wasn't wet...I guess that explains the idea of the shirt whisking away the moisture from the body". I only put in two water bottles in the belt, and I used one during the run, and the other on the walk back to the FOX 2 parking lot. I still had energy in me after the three miles, so after about a mile, I ran another mile. I'm ready to run more, and I even thought about running the whole park again, but that would be 12 miles, and I don't want to overdo it, especially since I have a 5-mile run tomorrow.

THOUGHTS: I feel like a real runner today. No complaints. It's comforting to know that I met my halfway mark on the fundraising already. The next goal is at the end of June, and I hope I can meet that one in time. This is really relaxing knowing I don't have to think about it for a while.
