First Time Running at Night:
Lindsey had made me an incredible meal this evening after work, and I couldn't resist. Lime chicken with rosemary potatoes, topped off with Bananas Foster. It was awesome! So, I ate first, then ran a couple hours after that. I didn't mind the evening run anyway. I ran at Francis Park on the asphalt surface on the road that goes around the park. I am no longer running on that nasty concrete...it beats me up! Asphalt is so much softer on my shoes. There were a lot of people walking and running the park at 9:00pm at night! I was surprised! I could feel my food burping up every now and then during the run, and I think eating before running made a difference, but nothing significant. I've never ran on a full stomach...and I really don't want to again. :)
Reminiscing...
Since I haven't ran Francis Park in a while, I remembered the days when I struggled to run a half-mile (halfway around the park). I have been training for almost two months now, and I can definitely see the endurance build up. After the 4-miler tonight, I just kind of ended and thought "that's it?" Even on my good days about 3 years ago when I would run that park most everyday, I don't think I could run 4 or 5 miles non-stop. I would always take walk breaks. I was thinner back then, and I had a better pace back then, but I know I will gain speed and lose weight here in the next month. I can feel it. I wasn't out of breath at all at the end of tonight's run.
Fundraising Update
WOW! My sponsors are really pulling through! This is amazing! So far, I've collected $3,391.39. I'm less than $600 away from the goal! I'm so proud of each one of my sponsors for helping out in for this amazing organization. The Arthritis Foundation extended their $2,000 deadline to sometime next week, but obviously that's not a problem for me! And the $3,200 deadline is June 30th, which I don't have to worry about either, thanks to your amazing generosity. The final due date for the $4,000 will be on July 21st. I'm hoping to be finished with the fundraising and thinking only about my training by then. I've got about 30 letters I'll be sending out this weekend to my co-workers, and I'm hoping that will seal the deal for me. Everyone has been so supportive, and I'm truly blessed with having wonderful contributors!
| THOUGHTS: |
I enjoy the night time run, but I don't think my schedule will allow too many of them. Only in exteme cases, such as pouring rain will I wait until the night hours, but even then, I'd rather run in the rain. |
